THE FUTURE IS HERE
Welcome to Ireland’s first testbed for Future Mobility supported by three key enablers: Technology, Infrastructure and Collaboration
Digital innovations are fundamentally transforming all areas of transport and mobility. New technologies and communications systems now embedded in vehicles are resulting in connectivity that opens up new possibilities, redefining mobility and changing public and private transport options. While this is disrupting traditional business models it is also delivering opportunities for new business growth.
Connectivity & Roadside Infrastructure
The installation of state-of-the-art connectivity technologies and road-side Infrastructure at the testbed will deliver an environment that provides the automotive industry, component suppliers, telecommunications companies and research institutions with the opportunity to adopt new approaches to develop innovations for appropriate and forward-looking infrastructures.
The testbed will facilitate innovation; providing the conditions for start-ups, SMEs, MNCs and researchers to collaboratively trial, test and innovate solutions for systems and technologies in a "laboratory with real-life conditions".
Future Mobility Campus Ireland (FMCI) was founded with the sole purpose of creating and delivering future mobility testbed facilities for stimulating research, development and innovation in the area of Autonomous Connected Electric Shared Vehicles (ACES), including Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) in Ireland. The testbed will be located in the Limerick-Shannon metropolitan area at Shannon Free Zone, Shannon, Co.Clare.
This project is supported under the Department of Business, Enterprise & Innovation’s Regional Enterprise Development Fund administered by Enterprise Ireland
The project matched funding has been backed by Multinational Companies, SMEs, Local Authorities and (Semi-)State Agencies
