Chinese Delegation Visiting Future Mobility Campus Ireland

A delegation from Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone visited Future Mobility Campus Ireland (FMCI) as part of a tour of Shannon Free Zone. Before the visit to FMCI, the delegation visited The Shannon Airport Group where they had the chance to visit Shannon Airport and discuss its history and impact on the region.

The delegation included representatives from Lin-gang Special Area Administration, including its director Mr. Chen Jinshan, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and representatives from Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office.

FMCI is a leading research and development center for future mobility technologies covering advances in land and air mobility. The delegation was welcomed by FMCI’s COO, Dr. Wassim Derguech, who provided an overview of the campus and its activities.

The visit aimed to explore opportunities for cooperation and investment in the area of future mobility between China and Ireland. In particular, the delegation was interested in learning about the work being done at FMCI to support innovative projects for the development of self-driving vehicles, drone operations, etc.

Dr. Derguech outlined the various projects underway at FMCI, including the testing of autonomous vehicle technologies, the development of sustainable transportation solutions, and the implementation of one of the European Digital Sky Demonstrators: EALU-AER project.

The delegation was impressed by the range of research and development activities taking place at FMCI and expressed a keen interest in exploring opportunities for collaboration with Irish companies in the area of future mobility.

Following the visit of FMCI, the delegation met with Shannon Chamber of commerce and some of its member companies including FMCI.
