AI Connect, the premier event for AI enthusiasts, recently took place at the Future Mobility Campus Ireland (FMCI) in Shannon, Ireland. On Thursday, March 9th, 2023, AI Connect welcomed attendees to a day filled with engaging activities, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, live demonstrations, and training sessions. The event aimed to showcase the cutting-edge AI projects emerging from Ireland, offer valuable insights into AI research, and facilitate connections with industry experts.

Renowned keynote speakers from esteemed organizations such as NVIDIA, Jaguar Land Rover, Provizio, and Exida graced the stage and shared their invaluable insights on the power of AI. A panel with Helen Downes, CEO of Shannon Chamber and and Paidraic McElwee, Head of Enterprise at Local Enterprise Office Clare and Dr. Wassim Derguech our COO and Chair of Shannon Chamber Skillnet unveiled some of the available mechanisms and funding opportunities for the support of businesses that are looking to embrace the digital era and adopt AI technologies in their businesses either through skills development or targeted projects.

One of the highlights of AI Connect was the live demonstrations, providing attendees with an up-close and personal experience of the latest AI technologies. From AI-driven accident prevention technologies on one FMCI vehicles to user posture monitoring for detecting persons falling in workplaces or medical centres, colorizing old black and white photos and videos and other innovative applications in data analytics and robotics, these demonstrations showcased the real-world impact and possibilities of AI.

AI Connect also prioritized empowering attendees with practical skills and knowledge through training sessions. NVIDIA Senior Data Scientist, Ekaterina Sirazitdinova, led a training session on Graph Neural Networks, equipping participants with valuable insights into this emerging field.
