European Digital Sky Initiatives at Paris Air Show

During the 54th edition of the Paris Air Show, Future Mobility Campus Ireland (FMCI) took the lead alongside key partners, including Collins Aerospace, The Shannon Airport Group and Avtrain to present ÉALÚ-AER project. This project stands as one of the first European Digital Sky Demonstrators, with a specific focus on U-space and Urban Air Mobility (UAM), aligning with the European ATM Master Plan defined by the SESAR Joint Undertaking (JU).

Digital Sky Demonstrators, such as ÉALÚ-AER, are high-level Technology Readiness Level (TRL 7-8) projects that are funded in collaboration with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) under the Connected Europe Facility (CEF) funding instrument.

During the presentation that took place at the European Commission pavillio, the team was joined by Andreas Boschen, the Executive Director of SESAR JU. Andreas presence triggered insightful conversations about the importance of the ÉALÚ-AER and its alignment with European ATM Master Plan as well as the dedication of SESAR JU to advancing air traffic management in Europe through research and innovation, aiming to deliver an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Digital European Sky. ÉALÚ-AER is a testament to this commitment, emphasizing the importance of U-space and UAM in shaping the future of Advanced Air Mobility.

Paris Air Show was an opportunity for FMCI to promote its expertise and work that include ÉALÚ-AER project with international stakeholders. FMCI also joined the Irish pavilion by Enterprise Ireland that hosting 5 Irish companies that are revolutionising the sector: Avtrain, Atlantic Aviation Group, The Shannon Airport Group, Plasma Bound, and Emerald Aero.

As part of the show, an Irish Reception took place where Ambassador Niall Burgess had the opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the aeronautics and aerospace industries. FMCI has the chance to have and active discussions with the Ambassador, highlighting the strategic importance of ÉALÚ-AER project in advancing U-space and UAM in Ireland and Europe.
As the aerospace industry continues to evolve, collaborative projects like ÉALÚ-AER pave the way for a future marked by cutting-edge technologies, resilient air traffic management, and sustainable urban air mobility solutions.
